Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 15 May 2025
These terms set out the basis on which Cogwheel (registered in Bangkok, Thailand) provides watch repair and restoration services. By leaving a watch with us or submitting an enquiry through this site, you accept these terms. If any part is unclear, please ask before work begins.
Services Provided
Cogwheel offers three watch services: Quartz Care & Battery Renewal, Crystal & Seal Replacement, and Full Mechanical Rebuild. Each service is described on our Solutions page with starting prices in Thai Baht.
We reserve the right to decline a watch we consider unsuitable for the requested service — for example, a movement too severely corroded to restore safely, or a piece requiring specialist tools we do not hold. In such cases we will explain our reasoning and, where possible, suggest an alternative.
Intake and Assessment
Every watch received is logged with the owner's contact details and a brief description of its condition at intake. This record is shared with the owner on request.
An assessment is carried out before any service begins. If the assessment reveals that the scope of work differs materially from what was initially discussed, we will contact the owner before proceeding. No additional work is carried out without explicit approval.
Pricing and Payment
Prices listed on this website are starting points for standard cases. The final price is confirmed in writing before work begins. Any variation from the original estimate — caused, for example, by non-stock parts or additional wear discovered during service — is quoted separately and approved before the additional work proceeds.
Payment is due on collection. We accept cash in Thai Baht and major bank transfers. If a watch is not collected within 60 days of completion notice, a daily storage fee of ฿50 may apply.
All prices are in Thai Baht (฿) and include applicable VAT.
Turnaround Times
Estimated completion times are given at intake and are not contractual commitments. Quartz care is typically ready in two to three working days; crystal replacements in three to five working days; full mechanical rebuilds in two to four weeks.
We will notify the owner promptly if a delay arises — for instance, due to parts availability or a complication discovered during service. We do not charge additionally for time taken to source non-stock components.
Care of Watches in Our Custody
Watches in our care are stored securely and handled only by trained staff. We carry insurance for watches held on our premises up to ฿200,000 per piece. For pieces of higher declared value, we ask that owners advise us at intake so additional arrangements can be considered.
We are not responsible for pre-existing faults not disclosed at intake, nor for damage resulting from an owner's failure to mention known fragility (cracked case, fragile crown, damaged stem, etc.).
Parts and Materials
Where original manufacturer parts are available and cost-appropriate, we use them. For older movements, we use quality aftermarket components sourced from reputable suppliers. We will always advise the owner if we intend to use aftermarket parts and confirm agreement before fitting.
Replaced parts (original gaskets, old crystals, etc.) are retained for 14 days following collection and may be returned to the owner on request.
Limitation of Liability
Our liability for any loss or damage arising from our services is limited to the cost of the service performed. We are not liable for consequential loss, sentimental value, or the market value of a watch beyond our insurance coverage.
These terms do not affect statutory rights under applicable Thai consumer protection law.
Uncollected Watches
If a watch is not collected within 90 days of a completion notice and no alternative arrangement has been agreed, Cogwheel reserves the right to sell the piece to recover unpaid service costs. We will make three documented attempts to contact the owner before taking any such step.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly will be referred to the Thai courts with jurisdiction over Bangkok.
