"I brought in my late father's Seiko automatic — it hadn't run since about 2018. They told me honestly what it needed before touching it, quoted a price, and waited for my go-ahead. Six weeks later it came back with a timing printout and a full written summary. Running to about ±4 seconds a day now."

"Crystal on my Tissot was badly scratched after a few months in Bangkok. They discussed mineral versus sapphire with me properly — pros, cons, price difference — before ordering anything. The fit was clean and the resealing was thorough. Took four days. Would have been five stars if the turnaround was a bit faster, but the quality was solid."

"Quartz Casio that my daughter wears every day — stopped suddenly. Battery done and gaskets freshened up. It cost what they said it would, took two days, and they included a small note explaining the cell they used and how long it should last. A small job handled with care."

"Left a Citizen automatic for a full service while I was in Bangkok on work. They called when the movement needed a worn part I hadn't expected — explained it clearly, gave a revised price, and waited for my reply before ordering. The rebuild was done within two weeks. Communication was in English throughout without any difficulty."

"Brought a Longines I bought second-hand — needed the crystal and a full service. They split it into two options clearly: do both now or the crystal first and revisit the movement later. I appreciated being given the choice. Went with both. The work was tidy and the paperwork was genuine, not boilerplate."

"My Hamilton had a cracked mineral crystal — a workshop in my building gave me a quote without even opening it. Cogwheel examined it first, found the gaskets were also due for renewal, and quoted the combined work. The difference in approach was noticeable immediately. Good workshop."

Case Studies
Three detailed service accounts
Case 01 — Full Mechanical Rebuild
A vintage Omega Seamaster back in daily use
The Situation
A 1969 Seamaster brought in by an owner who had inherited it. The movement had not been serviced in decades — losing roughly 90 seconds per day and stopping every few hours. The owner was unsure whether a rebuild made financial sense.
What Was Done
Full strip and ultrasonic clean. Worn cannon pinion replaced — the only part requiring renewal. Movement lubricated with Moebius oils appropriate to the calibre and regulated over three weeks in multiple positions. Crown and case-back gaskets renewed.
Outcome
Movement settled to ±6 seconds per day after regulation. Owner returned four weeks later to collect — piece running correctly in daily wear. Timing printout and service record provided. Owner described the cost as justified once the piece was back in use.
"I wasn't sure it was worth doing — it's not a particularly valuable watch by current prices. But it belonged to my grandfather and it's running properly for the first time in my memory."
Case 02 — Crystal & Seal Replacement
Cracked acrylic on an ETA-based dress watch
The Situation
An owner brought in a mid-range Swiss dress watch with a hairline crack in the acrylic crystal, acquired after a minor knock against a car door. Mechanically sound. The owner asked whether to fit acrylic again or upgrade to sapphire.
What Was Done
Discussion of material trade-offs: acrylic polishes, sapphire scratches less but is brittle under direct impact. Owner chose acrylic replacement to maintain original character of the piece. Profile matched to original. Full gasket renewal completed at the same visit. Three-day turnaround.
Outcome
Crystal fitted without visible edge gaps. Case sealed and pressure-checked. Owner informed that acrylic on this type of case can be polished if light marks appear over time — useful to know before it next needs attention.
"They explained the sapphire versus acrylic question clearly — I didn't feel talked into anything. I got exactly what made sense for the watch."
